🏛️ Is a Chamber of Commerce Membership Worth It?

If you’ve ever wondered whether joining your local Chamber is worth the annual dues, you’re not alone. For home service businesses, the short answer is: it can be—especially if you’re looking to grow your local visibility, build trust, and connect with other businesses.

Customers are 63% more likely to buy from businesses affiliated with a Chamber of Commerce. Why? It signals legitimacy and commitment to the community. Membership perks can include networking events, referrals, marketing opportunities, and access to key decision-makers in your area. It’s not just about who you know—it’s about who knows you.

Here are some of our tips to make the most of a Chamber membership?

  • Does your local Chamber have a Home Pros group? If not, start one! We did in the Longmont Chamber of Commerce!

  • Is your information accurate and up-to-date in your Chamber’s directory? This is important because your website link in your directory can provide an SEO boost to your website! Plus, it’s a key way that potential referral partners will try to reach you!

  • Participate in events! Saying you’re a Chamber member is one thing, but actively participating in After Hours, Before Hours, Leads Groups, and other community events helps build long term relationships - and referral leads!

📦 Tariffs Are Back—Here’s How They Could Affect Your Business

Newly announced tariffs are stirring concern across the construction industry, and for good reason. A recent Realty News Report article suggests these changes could raise the cost of building a new single-family home by roughly $9,200.

For home service providers, this could mean higher materials costs, project delays, and tighter margins.

🛠️ Materials expected to take the biggest hit:

  • Lumber

  • Steel

  • Aluminum

  • Appliances

  • Fixtures

Whether you're a builder or subcontractor, now's the time to reevaluate contracts, communicate with suppliers, and keep clients informed on potential price shifts.

🏠 Housing Market Check-In: What Q1 2025 Just Told Us

With Q1 officially in the books, the housing market is offering a cautiously optimistic outlook for the rest of the year.

According to TD Economics, housing starts jumped 11.2% in February, reaching a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.521 million units. This rebound nearly erased January’s decline and signaled strong momentum from builders, particularly in the single-family home sector.

At the same time, Fannie Mae’s March 2025 forecast projects the 30-year fixed mortgage rate will average around 6.5% for the year—down slightly from 2024, but still high enough to keep affordability top of mind.

As a result, many homeowners are choosing to renovate and reinvest in their current spaces instead of jumping into the resale market. That spells steady demand for local service pros offering remodeling, energy upgrades, and long-term maintenance solutions.
